Who Says Gaming Can't Be Educational? |wow gold
Some in the older generations may still believe video games rot the brain, but most of the younger, hipper generations know from experience that video technology can, and has, fostered more than an addiction for chasing those cute little Mario boys around.
For one thing, it's advanced educational opportunities by providing courses and instructor access to anyone anywhere through virtual learning programs. It's also become a handy mechanism for easy-to-follow "how-to" content and knowledge dissemination, and now it's even ignited its own fair share of "aha" moments among the much younger of us.
This past summer, students were invited to participate in a unique video contest by chip maker AMD and the Learning Games Network, focused on driving innovation in the design and use of games for learning.
The quest was to develop short videos explaining how video games had proven to be a valuable learning tool in a specific subject area, and also tapped the young minds to submit ideas on a video game that could be "required playing" for the classroom environment.

Winning entries of the "A-HA Moment" contest include a middle school student detailing how using the popular "Guitar Hero" video gaming accessory bolstered her ambition to learn how to read and play the guitar. One high school student explained how video gaming has helped him develop a "World of Warcraft" game approach to doing class assignments.
Those levels of impact, according to the Learning Games Network, supports the effort to use video games in the educational environment.
“As we identify examples of how students use games for more than entertainment, we were impressed by the creativity, passion, and insight that contest participants demonstrated,” said Andrew Blanco, director of program and business development for the Learning Games Network, in a statement.
Contest videos can be viewed on YouTube, and the winners in each age group will receive a 16-inch HP Pavilion dv6 series notebook.
